I’ve been locked up for 264 days.
This book has been on my TBR shelf for far too long. I couldn’t battle with my conscience anymore; therefore, I picked it up, praying that it would be a good read.
It turned out that it wasn’t as bad as I original had expected. (What am I talking about? I sound horrible.) Okay. Neither was it that good. It was just a general read for me.
Things I Liked About It
– the storyline
The storyline went smoothly and well. Nope. No plot twist. That was one thing I was a little disappointed.
– the writing
I enjoyed Tahereh’s writing very much. It kept me on hook, reading one page after another. I’m definitely gonna read the second book. (Truth is that I’ve already bought the whole trilogy in hardcover. Cannot not read them. Lol.)
Things I Dislike About It
– world-build
Lack. Lack. Lack. I didn’t even know if it was a dystopia or a futuristic world. Yep. The setting is as complicated as my friend’s Facebook relationship status.
– the main purpose
After finishing the first book, honestly, I still don’t know what Warner wanted from Juliette. Who did he want her to torture? Were they fighting against others?
– Warner
Sorry, guys. He was such a creepy dude, both mentally and physically. Personally, I think he was obsessed with Juliette in a sick way.
*Even Juliette’s head was in a mist:
“Why are you being nice to me?”
Da fuck? Warner forced you to do evil (that, is touching people), bullied, heartened you and incarcerated you!!! And you think he’s being nice? What’s wrong with your brain, girl?
Recommendation
You should pick up this book if you
– haven’t read a lot of dystopian
– enjoy Tahereh Mafi’s writing
– have watched X-men and wanted to know more about Sookie’s deadly painful touch.
You should stay away from it if you
– hate to see violent, controlling son of a bitch
– are tired of escape stories
That’s all for my review of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. Have you read this book? Let me know what you think!
Have a great Monday and I’ll see you next time. Bye-bye 👋
Great review! I read Shatter Me years ago and I can barely remember anything about it! I just remember that it didn’t live up to the hype for me and I didn’t continue with the series!
Do you plan on reading the next book?

OMG! LOL😂😂 We too thought Warner was messed up! In the first book though! 😉😉 Major twists coming up in the second books – especially if you don’t like Warner…🤓

I’ve read it and omg, I hated it! It was so horrible. Bad plot, bad writing style, bad characters. The villain, Warner was such a sad villain. I’m going to review it soon on my blog anyway
