Review : Mutant Mantis Lunch Ladies by Bruce Hale

How well do you know the lunch servers at your school? Sure, they seem like nice people, but what if secretly they are something much, much weirder?

Best friends Carlos and Benny, who just saved their teacher from becoming a were-hyena, have been called upon to investigate the strange goings-on in the cafeteria. Why are the lunch ladies suddenly so grumpy? Why are the girls’ meals different from the boys’? And what was that thing seen scuttling around the kitchen wearing an apron?

It’s going to require a lot of courage–and more than an industrial size can of Raid–for the boys to avoid extermination in this buggy adventure. (From: Goodreads)

⭐⭐⭐⭐ monstrous stars!!!

“Freakity freaking freakiness!”

How much I miss my childhood reading this kind of mystery books!

The Good

– the idea

Hahaha, mutant mantis lunch ladies.  That’s pretty cool.  I loved the lunch ladies when I was in elementary school.  They were always very nice.

– the plot

The story is very complete.  I enjoyed reading it very much.

– the drawings!

You know, children’s books always have the drawings.  I haven’t read books with drawings for a long time.

The Bad

I honestly have nothing bad to complain about this book.

Recommendation

I recommend this book to kids who are in elementary school, or junior high school and parents with kids in elementary school.  I always liked to listen to my mother reading Harry Potter to me.

That’s my review for Mutant Mantis Lunch Ladies by Bruce Hale.  Let me know what you think!

Happy reading.  I hope you have a nice weekend and I’ll see you next time.  Bye 👋
